Summer camp is an oasis for children-a place for them to escape the ever growing pressures of the school year, have fun, and learn invaluable lessons. Parents want the very best for their children and we know that Krislund Camp is the BEST camp in the world. It is true…there are a lot of good summer camp programs out there, but please review the many reasons that separate us and make us the BEST!
1. Safety Record
Krislund has gone above and beyond many private camps to demonstrate our commitment to safety. No environment is risk free. We try every day to prevent illness or injury to campers and to have solid plans if an emergency does occur. Krislund provides a supervised, positive environment with controlled boundaries to help children grow.
2. Location, Location, Location!
Krislund Camp is located on 1,960 acres of scenic, mountain valley land, between Lamar and Madisonburg, Pennsylvania. We are located seven miles south of exit #173 on Interstate-80 and 24 miles from University Park airport.

Krislund offers parents an opportunity to experience camp right along with their camper via the Internet. We put many pictures online during camp, without any personal information about the subjects, so you can see your camper’s smiling face. Grandparents can even come to camp with their grandchild at a special 3 day 'mini-camp'.
5. Facilities
Krislund has outstanding facilities, including a swimming pool as well as fields and courts for many activities. While most of the activities take place in "historic" Krislund, the camp has access to over 1,900 acres of our own land. We improve the facility each year with additions and enhancements so campers are always in for a treat when they return.

7. Ownership
Krislund is jointly owned and operated by three Presbyterys in central Pennsylvania. Krislund is a unique outdoor-based ministry of 146 Presbyterian (USA) congregations.
8. Counselors
We strive to maintain a close-knit ratio of 1 counselor to every 5 or 6 campers in each unit. Counselor maturity is important because we also require all of our counselors to refrain from consuming alcohol during their employment at Krislund. Counselors are required to agree to a strict Code of Conduct that outlines their responsibilites during camp sessions.
Recruiting the best counselors possible is a year-round effort and a main priority for the full-time staff. We recruit from many churches and universities. We require completion of an extensive application, conduct personal interviews, require and follow up on a minimum of 3 references, and complete a background check for each staff member. Once again, the care of your child is our primary focus.
